Nestled in the northeast corner of Warwick, Rhode Island, Gaspee Plateau offers a perfect blend of rich American history and classic New England neighborhood appeal. As your dedicated local real estate experts with deep roots in Rhode Island spanning three generations, the Slocum Home Team brings unparalleled insight into this distinctive community overlooking Narragansett Bay.

About Gaspee Plateau

Gaspee Plateau sits on elevated land near the historic waters where colonists boarded and burned the British revenue schooner HMS Gaspee in 1772, one of the first acts of defiance against British rule before the Revolutionary War. This revolutionary spirit lives on in the neighborhood's strong sense of community pride and annual Gaspee Days celebrations.

The Plateau is characterized by tree-lined streets, well-maintained properties, and many homes offering scenic views of Narragansett Bay. The neighborhood features a pleasing mix of architectural styles, from charming Cape Cods and classic Colonials to mid-century ranches and contemporary designs. Its elevated position provides many properties with cooling bay breezes and spectacular water views that capture stunning sunrises.

Nick's Picks - Local Favorites

Revolution American Bistro

Located in historic Pawtuxet Village, this is one of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner. Their Berube Burger is one of the best in the area and the craft cocktails and local beer selection make it perfect for unwinding after a day of showings.

Basta Italian Restaurant

This intimate Italian eatery serves what I consider the best authentic Italian cuisine in the area. Family-owned and operated, they make you feel like you're dining in someone's home in Italy. Their homemade pasta and seasonal specials showcase the best of Italian cooking with a Rhode Island twist.

Fellini Pizzeria

Their thin-crust pizzas are legendary in the area, but what many don't know about is their annual Thanksgiving Pie tradition.

Dear Heart's Ice Cream

This nostalgic ice cream shop is a must-visit during summer months. Family-owned for generations, they serve homemade flavors that bring back childhood memories.

Mousie's Deli

A neighborhood institution for quick, delicious sandwiches. My favorite sandwich there is The Tilly consisting of roast beef, onion, lettuce, and Mousie’s Hot Sauce on an onion roll. These massive sandwiches always hit the spot.

Edgewood Yacht Club

While technically in Cranston, this historic yacht club is minutes from Gaspee Plateau and offers sailing programs for all ages. After a devastating fire and rebuilding, it stands as a testament to community resilience. The sunset views from their deck are among the best in Narragansett Bay.

Governor Francis Inn Restaurant

This local landmark serves classic American comfort food in a casual setting. It's where I often meet clients for lunch meetings due to their consistent quality and friendly service. Their Rhode Island clam chowder (clear, not creamy!) follows the authentic local recipe.

Crusty's Pizza

A no-frills local pizzeria that delivers big on flavor. Their Sicilian-style thick crust pizza has a devoted following, and they know most customers by name. It's my family's go-to for casual Friday night dinners, and their Greek-style pizza with extra oregano is particularly outstanding.
