The Slocum Shootout 2023, hosted by our brand new 501c3, Slocum Cares, was not just another golf tournament. It was a testament to the power of community, sportsmanship, and philanthropy. The event successfully raised a whopping $18,676.50, with each of the two supported charities, CMTA and The Tomorrow Fund, receiving a check of $9338.25. 👏🎉

A Day to Remember at Potowomut Golf Course

Held at the picturesque Potowomut Golf Course on October 2, 2023, the Slocum Shootout was an unforgettable experience. Participants had the chance to experience an 18-hole Scramble at the renowned Potowomut Golf Club. But it wasn't just about the golf. The event was interspersed with lunch, drinks, games, raffles, live music, and networking opportunities with fellow golf enthusiasts. The club, known for its family-oriented atmosphere and unrivaled reputation, was the perfect venue for such a grand event.

A Culinary Delight

The event was not just a treat for golf enthusiasts but also food lovers. Local seafood was the highlight, with Chris Catucci, popularly known as The Shuckologist, serving up fresh seafood right on the course. Participants started their day with delicious pastries donated by Seven Stars Bakery. As the day progressed, they indulged in authentic Mexican food from Condesa, wood-fired pizza from Moving Dough Pizza Co., and the famous Rhode Island original, Saugy. To quench their thirst, Revolution set up a Stoli Doli tent, ensuring that participants had a refreshing drink in hand as they navigated the course.

A Packed Schedule with Thrilling Activities

The event kicked off at 11:00 AM with sign-ins, followed by lunch. At 12:30 PM, the 18-hole shotgun start signaled the beginning of the golfing action. As the sun set, the event transitioned into an evening of raffles, passed apps, drinks, and entertainment.

But the golfing challenges were the real crowd-pullers. Participants competed in the Air Cannon Challenge, aiming for a closest-to-the-pin contest using an Air Cannon. The Break the Glass Challenge tested precision skills, with golfers aiming to shatter a pane of glass from 25 yards. The Clink’n Sink putting green challenge, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and Hole-in-One contest added to the excitement.

Golfers were able to enjoy an amazing 1970 R&R Series Cigar and to top it all off, the Rum Liners provided live music, setting the perfect ambiance with their mix of rock, roots, outlaw country, classic rock, and more.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event a resounding success. Here's to many more years of golfing, giving, and making a difference!
